About the Maker

In 1999 my family and I decided to move back to our home state of Montana. This move allowed me the opportunity for a career change. Having wanted to work for myself for quite some time I decided to combine my love of knives with my longtime desire to blacksmith.webface copy.jpg (21287 bytes)
Starting out as a fulltime maker has allowed me the opportunity to progress in my trade at a very fast rate. It has also been very "trying" at times, not having the normal paycheck coming in the mail every two weeks. Luckily my wife works a "normal job" and has given me this opportunity to reach the goals I've set for myself. I (and I'm sure most makers would personally agree) could not do this without the support of my better half.
Soon after I started forging I took a basic forging and knife making class from then Journeymansmith Ed Caffrey. Ed has since achieved his goal of Mastersmith, Congratulations Ed. I cannot begin to tell how helpful this class work was and would encourage any new knife maker to do likewise. Ed has been and will continue to be a great inspiration to me.
I have recently passed the performance part of the test for Journeymansmith status in the American Bladesmith Society and plan on submitting my 5 test blades at the 2003 Blade Show.

UPDATE JUNE 17-18 2006 - Just received my Master Smith rating!
